To defend their nation, Ukrainians fight with a courage that commands respect. In the name of international law, our values and the defense of Europe, our responsibility is to stand by their side. And we do so. We do so when we deliver weapons and equipment, when we support them with military training, when we deploy humanitarian support, when we stand by them to see justice done. We do so when we sanction Russia. We do so when we, Allies, remain united. At the NATO Summit in Vilnius, we confirmed new immediate military commitments, in our case SCALP missiles. They will enable Ukraine to carry out in-depth strikes on its territory to defend it. With our Allies, and with the extraordinary courage of the Ukrainian forces fighting on the front line, we are going to change the nature of the Ukrainian counter-offensive. We will continue to do so in the long term. This is the very meaning of the commitments we have forged in G7 format, open to all NATO Allies. It is also the meaning of the message we have conveyed together: there is a path towards NATO for Ukraine. The security of our continent could not be negotiated without all the security guarantees and this status, tomorrow, for Ukraine. We did what we had to do, while maintaining the unity of all the Allies.
