There is a race that must not be stopped and that we all together must win: the race against climate change. A strong proposition from the Paris Appeal for Glaciers and the Poles: the United Nations commits to a Decade of Action for Cryosphere Sciences. What it means: Over the next 10 years, scientists from around the world will unite and intensify their research on the cryosphere to better understand and protect it. The vast ice sheets of Antarctica and Greenland, sea ice in the Arctic and Southern Ocean, snow cover, mountain glaciers, permafrost... We are talking about 10% of the Earth's surface, where the consequences of climate change have dramatic impacts on the rest of the planet. Protecting these regions means protecting ourselves.
